2014 FMCA 86th Annual Meeting

FMCA holds an Annual Meeting each fall for the presentation of papers and discussion of mosquito abatement and related subjects. The meeting normally lasts three days and is highlighted by invitational papers given by world recognized authorities on a variety of subjects. Space is available for commercial companies to exhibit the latest technological materials and products.

Meeting Information

The 2014 FMCA Annual Meeting will begin at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 9th with the FMCA Board of Director’s Meeting. The general session program will begin at 8:00 am on Monday, November 10th and will conclude at noon on Wednesday, November 12th.

We will hold a Board of Director’s Meeting Sunday at 1:00 pm. The General Session will begin 8:00 am on Monday, November 10th.

Call for Papers

The Call for Papers is now closed.

The FMCA will host a Dengue/Chikungunya Symposium that will feature both Invited Speakers and Submitted Papers. Space is limited for this symposium so be sure to submit your papers early.

Once again we are offering the category of Best Practices with an emphasis on response and preparedness for peri-domestic species and innovative equipment used in operational mosquito control. This category offers District and Industry members the opportunity to showcase efforts that incorporate new or innovative strategies that promote efficiency related to research, institutional organization, operations, and environmental sustainability.

Hotel Information

The 2014 Annual Fall Meeting of the Florida Mosquito Control Association will be held at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL.

The FMCA has contracted for 430 rooms at a rate of $125.00 per night for Deluxe King and Deluxe Double rooms. Other availabe room rates include $165.00 per night for Executive Double and $205.00 per night for One Bedroom Suite. All rooms rates have an additional 11% state and local taxes. Room rate is available three days prior and post event. To be eligible for exemption from state and local taxes, you will need to pay for your accommodations using an agency credit card or check with your agency's name on it as well as a copy of your tax exempt certificate to be considered tax exempt.

Hotel reservation deadline was Friday, October 10th, 2014. After that date the room rates will increased significantly.

Silent Auction

The FMC Foundation sponsors an Annual Silent Auction and Raffle at the FMCA Annual Meeting before the Awards Banquet to raise funds for future scholarships. A slide-show preview of the auction items will be available at the seminar prior to the event. If you wish to donate an item for the auction, please contact the FMCA Immediate-Past President, by email at and fill out the FMCF Foundation Item Donation Form (PDF). Remember, item donations to our Foundation are tax deductible. We thank you for your generosity.

FMCA Awards

Any Florida Mosquito Control Association member in good standing may nominate a candidate for any of the 6 FMCA awards by submitting to the Awards Committee a short biographical sketch and an appraisal of the nominee’s accomplishments deemed worthy of the award. There is no official nomination form. Endorsements and written support from other colleagues are encouraged, and all submissions will be acknowledged.

FMCA Scholarships

The Florida Mosquito Control Association established the Florida Mosquito Control Foundation in 1994 to grants scholarships to individuals for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes.
