Advanced Mosquito Control Exam

The University of Florida, with cooperation from the Florida Mosquito Control Association, will offer an exam for advanced mosquito control employees beginning in 2011. For the first two years, the exam will be offered two times per year, and only through the FMCA’s Dodd Short Courses in Ocala, FL, and the University of Florida, Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory in Vero Beach. Exam dates for 2011 are January 28, 2011 in Ocala (begins at 8:00 am; must finish by 12:00 pm) and August 31, 2011 in Vero Beach (begins at 9:00 am; must finish by 1:00 pm). Exam dates for 2012 will be announced later this year.

Beginning in 2013, there will be additional dates and locations for the exam, most likely through the county cooperative extension offices.

A review of topics that advanced mosquito control employees should already have experience with will be offered Monday – Thursday, January 24 – 28, 2011, as a Dodd Short Course. The class is not the place to have the first exposure to the material. Employees who are ready for the exam will be those who are already familiar with the topics. This will be the only time the review is offered in 2011.

If you are planning to take the exam during the 2011 Dodd Short Courses, you must register for the exam. Even if you are taking the review course for the exam, you need to register for the exam as well. There is a space on the registration form for the exam; it is BB8.

Additional information concerning the August 31, 2011 exam and future reviews and exams will be posted on the FMCA website.
